Cheesy apple crumble

(adapted from Julie Van Rosendaal’s old- fashioned apple crumble)

INGREDIENTS:

(starred ingredients available at Springbank Cheese locations)

FILLING:

  • 6 apples
  • 6 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. butter
  • 1 tbsp. maple syrup
  • ¾ c. grated Smoked Applewood Cheddar*

CRUMBLE:

  • 4 tbsp. butter
  •  ½ c. brown sugar
  • ½ c. flour
  •  ½ c. rolled oats
  • ½ c. Bellavitano Raspberry Cheese*
  • dash of cinnamon
  • dash of nutmeg

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

Peel and slice the apples into a greased 9” x 13” baking dish. Combine granulated sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples. Melt and drizzle 2 tsp. butter over apples, sugar and cinnamon. Drizzle maple syrup throughout the dish. Sprinkle with Smoked Applewood Cheddar.

Soften remaining 4 tsp. of butter in the microwave and blend into brown sugar. Add flour and rolled oats and mix. Finally, blend in Bellavitano Raspberry Cheese. Spoon crumble mixture evenly across the top of the apples. Sprinkle dash of cinnamon and dash of nutmeg across the surface.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil (shiny side down). Bake at 350 F  for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake until crust is golden and apples are tender (about 30 minutes).
